The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering started in 2002 and has been imparting quality education. Highly dedicated, hardworking, young, dynamic and well qualified faculty is the main asset of the department. Faculty members are actively involved in, consultancy, R&D activities and publish their research work regularly in the journals of National & International repute .We realize the responsibility towards the society and nation at large and in order to serve this objective numerous community development programs, STTPs, workshops and conferences are conducted. Through selection of technical electives, students may specialize in certain fields of electrical engineering. These specialties include electrical systems design, biomedical, advanced power electronics, artificial intelligence, thyristorised power controllers, HVDC, robotics, etc .In addition to analysis skills, emphasis is placed on laboratory experience and design projects are being organized regularly.
The department offer a four year under graduate program in electrical engineering to cater to the ever challenging needs of technical excellence in all areas of electrical engineering. It has been playing a vital role in producing a technologists of highest caliber.
The first independent B.Tech batch to graduate in 2006 and Mr. PRASAD CHIRAYIL awarded third rank in the Kannur university .The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. Currently there are 13 faculty members working under this department.
The Department is well equipped with a number of PCs hosting several software packages, and linked through a local area network. Internet services are available to all students and faculty. The Department organizes workshops, seminars and symposia in various specialized fields of providing a sound background in the areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
